School is the foremost fountain of knowledge children are exposed to. It gives a chance for them to acquire knowledge on various fields of education such as people, Quran, Hadith, Mathematics, English, Bangla, Science and other numerous subjects. These contributes to cultivation in the thought process. When one is exposed to the influences coming from various cultural sources, his/her on world and existence becomes vast.
Hifz means to learn or to memorize. Hifzul Quran means to read and to learn Quran; to memorize its verses and ayaat But in Islam Hifzul Quran not only means to learn its verses orally but also to memorize what it says and understand what it means, what it wants from a Muslim, what is Allah’s teaching for a Muslim and leads his or her life according to the teaching of Islam.
Rooh International School provides the children of its community with not only a strong Academic curriculum but also one that is strong in promoting Islamic principles, values, and knowledge. To achieve this, Rooh International School (RIS) has built in instructional time and meaningful planned activities that help strengthen our students’ Islamic knowledge and ways of applying Islam into their everyday lives. While the provided Islamic related instructional time fits the needs of many of our students, there is still a group of students for whom the allotted time is inadequate. In order to reach the needs of all of our students, RIS has created a Hifz program that will enable those students not only progress academically but also mentally appropriate age, but also have an opportunity to have time to memorize the Qur’an.
Parents should be aware that doing hifz of the Qur’an is not a small task. It requires a tremendous amount of effort, focus and dedication on behalf of the student, parent(s), and the teacher. Therefore, when deciding whether or not to enroll your children in a Hifz program, you should make sure that you, the child, and the teacher are prepared for these huge and blessed commitment. If the child has a Qur’an teacher, ask the teacher if s/he feels your child is capable of doing hifz of the Qur’an. If the teacher thinks that the child indeed has the focus and persistence needed to memorize the Qur’an and that he does a very good job memorizing Surah’s then you may consider enrolling the child in a hifz program. However, first you, the parent, must make sure that you are willing to expend the time and effort needed to support your child during this endeavor. If not, it may not be best to put this responsibility on the child’s shoulders. If the child says no, then the parent should drop the idea, at least until the child is willing to make this commitment.
